POSTCARDS

By Ngiam Teo

In collaboration with XANTO Studios

Postcards is a short film series inspired by the concept of paper postcards: a scenic image paired with a brief note, sent to loved ones while traveling. Translating this into film, each Postcard is a short visual piece composed of still clips with natural audio that may be accompanied by a brief message.

Presented in a 3:2 aspect ratio, the series preserves the stillness of photographs. Featured scenes include clouds, flowers, overgrown ruins, and abandoned places, with minimal human presence and little to no camera movement. The music is sparse, allowing any natural sounds to define each clip.

These films are guided by a respect for nature and quiet spaces, allowing moments to simply exist. Each Postcard is personal, reflecting moments witnessed rather than staged. The series remains open-ended and ever-evolving. Collaborators may eventually share their own Postcards, creating a collective, growing archive of captured moments and personal reflections.
