Ngiam Teo
Musician | Conductor | Arranger & Composer | Indie Game Designer | Production Assistant
Ngiam was born in Taiwan and is a musician, conductor, and composer. Originally self-taught, his early musical experiences included choir assemblies, violin and harmonica lessons, and a brief study of festive drums, later deciding to pursue the piano in late 2016. These early beginnings and his self-directed explorations laid the foundation for a versatile multidisciplinary creative career, encompassing game music, film scores, contemporary composition, performance, and other creative projects.
Since releasing his first composition and album in 2017, Ngiam has collaborated with indie game developers and creators across multiple disciplines. His work spans original compositions, soundtracks for games and films, and arrangements performed at a variety of events. He actively participates in monthly game jams, creating music under tight deadlines, one of which earned first place in 2024 with the project The Laundry List.
Beyond music, Ngiam occasionally extends his storytelling to game design, filmmaking, and visual art, bringing his perspective to new mediums. His works are often narrative-driven and sometimes incorporate minimalism and surreal abstraction, while conveying emotion and meaning. He co-directs and assists in production on select projects, integrating design, collaboration, and musical vision to shape his projects.
Through his diverse creative work, Ngiam seeks to create moments that linger with audiences, leaving behind emotional depth and a sense of lasting memory.
In his spare time, he enjoys studying etymology and spends time with flowers, tending to them once in a while, which inspire the textures and stories in his works.
Ngiam’s Comment
“Growing up, music always felt like a bridge between worlds. I was moved by how soundtracks could give life to stories, how a single melody could hold memory, emotion, and atmosphere all at once. That feeling is what inspires me, and it’s what keeps me creating today.
Storytelling is at the heart of my work. Even when I’m just writing music, I think of it as part of a greater whole: a scene, a memory, or even a fragment of a story. Creative projects such as games and WORLDS (working title) let me explore that side more directly, bringing music together with narratives and imagination.
What I hope, above all, is that my music and stories stay with people. That they spark a memory, stir an emotion, or even make someone feel as though they’ve stepped into another world, if only for a moment. I want my works to leave a strong and lasting impression that people remember and return to.
I hope to continue creating meaningful and memorable works that touch hearts and leave behind something unforgettable.”
